Rifle Scopes By Trijicon And Vortex

Trijicon are an American company with a long history of innovation in the design of optical sights. Many of these employ the Bindon Aiming Concept which projects an illuminated aiming mark into infinity, illuminated by fiber-optics. This technology resulted in the highly successful Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight or ACOG which took the world of military optics by storm and, in its many variants, has sold millions of units. However, Trijicon never intended to rely on the military market and has products targeting many other users of firearms, from illuminated optical sights for pistols to illuminated sights for hunting bows. They also target the users of conventional rifle scopes with a range of high quality, feature packed units called the Accupoint.

One market Trijicon wanted to address was the three gun competition market. Three gun shooters needed a scope that offered genuine unitary power for close in shots but the ability to go up the 4X for longer shots. The Trijicon Accupoint 1-4X24 has the additional feature of a constant eye-relief throughout its magnification range. This allows a constant head position. The reticle on the three gun version is either a red (TR24R), amber (TR24A) or green (TR24G) triangle illuminated by a combination of fiber-optic and tritium illumination. However, this scope is not limited to competition use as the unitary magnification enables use on moving targets such as big, dangerous game. To this end the scope is also offered with a German No4 reticle with an illuminated dot at its center. The TR24s are 30mm tube scopes.

For those desiring a 1″ tube, the Trijicon Accupoint 1.25X24 is offers a less expensive alternative. Not going for a true unitary power kept the price down as did having a variable eye-relief. This scope makes an ideal close country hunting scope for a lever action deer rifle or turkey gun.

The same market sectors are addressed by the first focal plane Vortex Viper PST rifle scope. This sight is a battery illuminated 30mm tube 1-4X24 unit which shares the Trijicon TR24′s fixed eye relief through its adjustment range. The illumination switches back on at the same setting you turned it off and the Enhanced Battle Rifle adjuster turrets feature an instant Return to Zero or RTZ feature. Three reticles are avialaible, MOA and MRAD with minute of angle and milliradian subtension lines respectively and the TMCQ or Tactical Millin Close Quarters reticle that combines a red center dot with MoA or MRAD subtension lines.
