The next problem is that silver which is still relatively inexpensive has to now be marked up in order to pay downline commissions.  This is like marking up a $20 dollar bill and charging $100 for it and then only paying a 10% commission on every person you get to do the same thing.  Many companies are offering what is called a “Numismatic” coin which has additional value over the spot or wholesale price of silver or even gold.  This now compounds the problem because you have people who know very little about coins making purchases of a marked up coin based on what is believed will be a higher value due to its rarity and not its commodity weight.  Try comparing this activity to buying an antique car.  Buying a coin or coins based on its rarity in economic bad times is like paying retail plus for a used car when all you need is cheap transportation.  Rare or numismatic coins are only valuable to someone else who is willing to pay the price you are asking for it over the commodity weight price.
