Day Night

Can an Astrological Chart be completed if the subject has no idea what time of day/night they were born ?
How do Astrologers successfully complete a chart for someone who has no idea what time of day/night they were born ?
The time of birth was not documented on the Birth Certificate,
and the Hospital closed years ago.
No living relatives that would know,
either.
Seems to me the time of Birth is important when it comes to the art/science of Astrology.
How could an Astrological Chart be completed without this information ?
Rectification is the term used for the attempt to astrologically determine a person’s birth time. Usually it is used to “fine-tune” a vague birthtime, such as 6:00 or 6:30 or even 6:15 (all of which are likely rounded-off times).
It is possible to work backwards using major life events (such as major illness, serious accidents or operations, major relocations, death of parent, etc.). In astrology, we usually take a timed chart and look for “directions” to the angles (Midheaven & Ascendant), and predict the event from that. In rectification, however, you work backwards, taking the event, deciding what the possible “directions” could have been, and then adjusting the angles to fit the timing of that event. Once you know the angles, it is a simple task to work backwards to the birth time. However, it takes an astrologer with exceptional “predictive” skill (as opposed to natal-chart/personality skill) to rectify a chart, it takes a lot of time, and a skilled astrologer charges $100-200 an hour.
My mother however, was highly skilled with directions, and she rectified my father’s birth time with no idea when he was born. Several years later, after his mother died and they were going through her papers, my parents discovered a hand-written note of my father’s birth at home, giving the date and exact time. My mother’s rectified time, out of a possible 24-hour period, was 2 minutes off my father’s written birth time.
One could perhaps, study the impact of transiting Uranus to natal Moon, if the individual is old enough to have had a hard aspect of this during their adult life (this transit is very likely to produce an external result). This would narrow down the Moon’s actual position to within 2-3 degrees, which would narrow the birth time to within 4-6 hours … and that would shorten the rectification process.
Without a time, you lose all the information about houses and the angles, as well as not knowing what aspects Moon has in the natal chart. As a certified astrologer, I always refused to work with a chart where the time was not known … seeing as our readings are not psychic but are based entirely on the chart, I cannot give a good reading without a “good” chart, and I refused to misinform and I refused to take money for misinformation.
