Scope and mount for Ruger mark 2 target pistol?

I have a Ruger mark 2 “government target” 6 in bull barrel pistol that I want to put some optics on and need suggestions.
I will be using it for small game hunting under 30 yards.
So should I go with a red dot, pistol scope, or some other type of optics?
My eyes are getting old and its getting hard to see things up close.
The pistol is not drilled and taped for a scope mount and I would rather not have it drilled at all.

I like the Weigand no drill and tap mount. I tried both a red dot and a 2x leupold eer scope on my MKII bull barrel and I liked the scope best. I could put winchester dynapoints into great little groups on the range.
