what are the leupold VX-II scopes like?

im looking at the 3-9×40 with the matte finish and long range duplex to go onto my upcoming yote, p-dog, and milk jug killing .223.
i would love a VX-II but i dont have a grand to spend im only 16 and still working on a job to get the last of my money.
or does anyone have a better scope for the same or close to the same price?
ya i dont like many scope companies. leupold, nikon, and sightron are my favorites.
but the only problem i see with a 6-18 is its to high powered for my hunting… even on 3 it can be to powerful at times but it works best. if i hunted an open area i would get a higher powered scope but 3-9 is best for my area
I have a couple of them, with the standard crosshair reticle, on larger caliber rifles. I have no complaints. Triple the money doesn’t give you triple the scope, so I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. And it’s distinctly better, in my opinion, than the equivalent Burris, marginally better than the equivalent Nikon.
