Illuminated Sniper

what are the policies towards the lights on/lights off while leaving your housing unit?
i have heard a rumor concerning the [non US] air force staff in Kabul [?] they are supposed to let the lights ON when leaving their container or tent and actually STOP in the open doors and walk in the illuminated patch of land only.
Once again> this info was issued to air force/ airbase staff, not to troops in field.
whatever ridiculous the reason for such behavior was, i was wondering i would never ever stand still in the bright rectangle of light just to let a sniper a beautiful silhouette to shoot at.
can you confirm/ negate this piece of info?
thanks
That sounds absurd… However, I believe they make you walk in illuminated areas for safety and security. I know how stupid that sounds… I’ts one of those issues where you can’t just settle it. I mean well, if AF personell where to be equipped with night vision goggles then okay, lol. But, i’ts there for security.
Im not saying this rule is true, im just stating if it is, why its there.
