Leupold Ruger

Are Sako rifles high end rifles?

I am looking to get my first hunting rifle in 30-06 with a Leupold 3×9 scope. I have 3 brands narrowed down to Winchester, Remington, & Ruger. I did see a rifle by the brand of Sako with a walnut finish that was used for $750 with a Leupold scope, due to a going out of business sale. The guy behind the gun counter told me it was a very high end rifle in tip top shape and at great price that will hold it’s value and that it was a collector’s. He also said Sako’s go for $1000 plus. Fellow hunter’s I know say it’s an off brand and they suck. Other’s say they haven’t heard of them. What’s the truth about Sako? Awesome rifle or not so great off-brand? I personally thought the rifle looked pretty damn nice, although I am a rookie to rifles and hunting. Should I stay with my first 3 brand choices or consider a Sako, new or used that’s on sale?
This Sako was a 30-06 and I was told it was in great condition and any seasoned hunter would be very impressed with this particular rifle.

Sako is a good brand. Some can be found for under $1k, but some are more. I am more familliar with Tikka, which is usually a bit less expensive. If you know the model of Sako, and stated the condition and chambering we could help more. Leupold is a great scope, overall it sounds like a great deal unless its beatup or an obscure chambering. If its a .30-06 (you werent too clear) then i’d jump on it unless its beat up.

Added: This specific one sounds like a deal, but if you miss up on it, you cant go wrong with a Rem 700 or Win 70. Ruger is a good brand, but i didnt care for old Bill Ruger’s politics, so i avoid all rugers unless its a pre-owned steal.
