The Problems In Parenting Challenging Children – Guidelines To Find The Most Effective Solution

Challenging children are not necessarily bad or naughty. They are just reflecting some emotional and developmental problems they may have. Sometimes children have a difficult temperament and their infanthood is marked rather loudly by crying a lot and being difficult, inflexible and having great difficulty in adjusting to a regular routine which has been set down by the parents.

The problem with these challenging children is that their parents are less likely to show them love and affection because they are so difficult to manage and to handle. That leads to low self esteem on the part of the child who reacts by behaving even more badly and is being sucked into a negative vortex together with the parents. Bad behavior leads to more rejection and consequently more bad behavior.

The parents themselves will be under pressure too and the challenging children will create tensions within the marriage and there will also be exhaustion and burn out due to the constant battles and problems which are left unresolved. These children need a stable happy family life yet they seem bent on causing that sound structure to crumble by their very behavior. It seems to be a no win situation as the parents are drained of all their resources in trying to provide a stable loving environment. It really does seem like an impossible task.

The good news is that if both parents agree to try out child behavior therapy with a really good program they can soon start to see results. They can work at home together without having the embarrassment of going to a psychotherapist. This can really help the marriage to stabilize. By working together on all the plans and strategies and agreeing on a plan of campaign, they find that the marriage grows stronger through the efforts of their mutual support for each other.

Challenging children will also benefit from a more loving and more stable couple and they too will begin to turn around as the techniques and strategies begin to take effect.
