How long do you have to keep items that a room mate left?

I had a room mate who moved out and left stuff here. I figured she left the stuff here because she didn’t want it. She said she was coming back to get the items and today I find out that she moved out of state and I doubt she’ll be back. Do I need to keep the items “just in case” or can I do what I want with the stuff?

Depends on the state how long it takes for something to become abandoned property. If it’s in your way, what I would do is rent a storage space and send her the key and give the storage place her contact info.
