Matte Rifle
The Ruger M77 Hawkeye. Genuine improvement or ?
Ruger touts this rifle as an improvement over the M77 Mark II. I know that the trigger pull has been improved, but every Hawkeye that I have handled looks and feels “de-contented” as compared to my Mark II. (Mushy safeties, matte finish, etc…)
Is this an example of Ruger improving their rifle, or cheapening it to maintain a price point ?

If you were to buy a Ruger, would you get a Hawkeye, or buy a Mark II and invest in trigger work?
I’ve handled a few Hawkeyes, and in my opinion I would rather buy a Mark II and do a little bit of trigger work. The Haweyes just kind of look and feel cheaper than the Mark II’s do and I’m not a fan of the matte finish.
