The Trijicon Reflex Series Sights

Founded by the late Glyn Bindon, Trijicon has made its name with its ultra robust ACOG magnifying reflex sights which are now standard issue with the US Army, US Marine Corps, British Armed Forces and many other Western or allied militaries. However, Trijicon is highly innovative and always looking to expand its already impressive product line. One niche they saw was for an ultra rugged non magnifying reflex sight for mounting on shoulder weapons used for short range engagements. This kind of capability also lends itself to turkey shooting and practical shotgun competitions. These sights are just as suitable for backwoods deer hunting on large caliber lever guns.

As with the ACOGs, Trijicon set out to free the shooter from reliance on batteries that inevitably run out and electronics that can break down. The Trijicon Reflex uses a fiber-optic light gathering device by day and a tritium lamp to illuminate the aiming pattern at night. The sight adapts to almost all lighting conditions; the only one it has problems with is shooting into bright terrain from a darkened area, a problem the Tripower sight was designed to overcome. These sights offer excellent situational awareness and very rapid target engagement.

The fully coated dichroic mirror allows through all but the wavelength of the dot, ensuring a bright, clear sight picture. The housing is a very rugged investment casting of A357-T6 aluminum alloy. The sights are hard anodized in a dark grey matte finish. Most Trijocon Reflex sights employ amber dots of either 4.5 or 6.5 MoA, but a more precise 12 MoA chevron is available on one of the 24mm models. The adjusters are recessed to avoid snagging or damage and provide one inch at 100 yard clicks.

A lot of effort has been put into making these sights fit a vast array of weapons. They offer the basic sight without a mount. You can then add your choice of Weaver, Flattop (Picatinny on AR15), Low Profile Flattop Quick Detach, Low Profile Weaver Quick Detach, H&K, A.R.M.S #15 throw lever, AK47 and an M16 / AR15 carry handle mount. For tactical applications and hunting a Tenebraex KillFlash ARD can be purchased.

Units offered include the Trijicon RX01 which is a 24 mm objective model with a 6.5 MoA amber dot, the Trijicon RX30, a 6.5 MoA unit with a 42mm objective and the Trijicon RX34, another 42mm objective model, but this time with the smaller 4.5 MoA dot.
