Nightforce Benchrest
Whats the difference between the nightforce nxs 12-42×56 scope and the nightforce benchrest 12-42×56 scope?
the nxs costs like 400 bucks more
The NXS offers externally-adjustable turrets-to “dial-in” windage and elevation. http://www.nightforceoptics.com/sizedwindow.php?src=full_size/scopes/popup02_wind_elev.jpg-417696605ed76 In a well-made tactical scope, these have to be repeatable. Say you wanted to dial in enough elevation for a 600-yard shot, then return to your 100 yard zero by just counting the clicks. A scope has to be well made to do that, and you have to pay for it.
The NXS also has a choice of more reticles and longer eye relief. I don’t believe the NXS has any better optics, just additional features. Unless you going to be dialing in elevation from shot to shot, you may not need to spend the extra $400.
