NYPD weapons question?

Ok so one of the approved guns for NYPD is the Sig Sauer P226, but I want to know if officers are allowed to use the Sig Sauer P229 (compact version of the P226) for off duty concealed carry. They are the same calibers and very similar. So any NYPD cops or anyone else know?
Ed, the NYPD has a list of off- duty guns allowed, and they I’m pretty sure they only allow 9mm’s for off duty as well as on duty.

Any off duty law enforcement can carry any legal weapon, any time they are off duty in the state.
