What paintball gun do you recommend for small tournaments?

Me and 2 of my friends are planning to enter the NEPL rookie tournament. We are decent paintball players and we wanted to know how serious this tournament was. Will people be practicing twice a week with $1000 guns, or will it be like rec ball. Any tournament players i would like your advice on what type of gun to get (price range), how often to practice, and some tips that would be helpful. Thanks!

From what i’ve seen, all tourney ballers, from beginners and up, seem to use the most expensive markers possible… i can’t imagine how these people (or their parents) can afford them. But don’t feel that you need an expensive marker to compete, you can use any marker, provided it fits within the guidelines of the tourney rules (not sure which rules NEPL follows, you’ll have to find that out).

However, i have seen players using cheaper markers, like Spyders. I personally have been using an Ion for a couple years in local tourneys here (sold my high end markers, just needed the money more). The Ion has not been hindering me at all.

So focus more on what’s in your BUDGET, and less on what everyone else is using. And knowing your budget is the first step in getting assistance, since i can suggest every marker under the sun but i won’t have any idea what you can afford.
