Which Picatinny Rail for Winchester 100?

My dad wants to mount a red dot (Aimpoint) scope on his Winchester Model 100 in .308. I would like to mount a Picatinny rail on it to give him a lot of mounting options (I am mounting this for him). Which one should we go with? Even a blank one that is about 6″ would work. I would like to keep it as low profile as possible. I was thinking about one from Tactical Solutions for the Ruger 10/22 and just drill different holes. Also, what screw size are the holes on the gun?
