Anybody have an idea on what would be a good self defence pistol for a woman that is 5’3″?

I’ve heard so many different opinions I’m more confused than ever. I want something that doesn’t cost a lot, is light, and dependible.

although your height isn’t a factor, how familiar you are with firearms is, and so is your hand size. For a new shooter, I recommend a 2″ barreled revolver in .38 special. This firearm has very very few problems, is very reliable and uses a cartridge more than capable of stopping a bad Guy, yet does not have excessive recoil or muzzle flash. A good choice is the Ruger revolver. Priced reasonable, utterly reliable, accurate and with a good warranty. Plus unlike a pistol it you do not need to learn all the different types of stoppages and jams than can occur, and how to handle them in an emergency, plus it has no special or difficult safeties to manipulate under stress. Believe me, I have introduced a lot of people to shooting, and have taught hundreds of them to shoot. Later, when you gain proficiency, if you want to move on to a pistol, get some training aimed specifically at pistols, and move on to one if you want. But I assure you, the revolver in .38 special with quality hollow point ammo is all you will need to protect yourself, unless you are in a very rural area or hiking where you might encounter dangerous animals larger than a coyote. In which case, I would move up to a revolver with a 4″ barrel chambered in .357 magnum.
