Pistol Takedown

What is the best kind of Glock to have for my taste (your opinion)?

I want a pistol that I can shoot with good accuracy and takedown power for large cats for the wilderness, mountain lion type. Not too small though. I am going with handguns instead of rifles (portability and $$$). Did I mention reliability…

With no intention to offend: If you’re not familiar with pistols AND heavily practiced then none of the above calibers or models is going to suffice against a fast moving target like a catamount. Glocks ain’t cheap so $$$ isn’t really an issue.

Back in the day when I used to hunt with a pistol I always carried a Smith & Wesson Model 29 or 629 with a longer 6 to 8 inch barrel that I carried in a shoulder holster. (Sometimes a long barreled 22 LR for small game, as well.)

Suggest you look at Marlin short barreled lever-action carbines too. Price will be, about, the same; and it’ll be a whole lot easier for you to hit what you’re aiming at. (I like 44 Magnum or 45-70 Gov.)

PS: Because they’re not as reliable, subject to too many problems, and easily affected by adverse weather: It’s seldom a good idea to use a semiautomatic pistol as a hunting or backwoods self-defense weapon.
