Range Finding
Finding domain and range of a one-to-one function?
Hi, i’m having a difficult time solving this problem and hope i can get some help on it. I’m in math 1050 and were currently learning about one-to-one functions; inverse functions. The questions asks:
Find the domain and range of the function: f(x) = x+1/3x-2
I’m assuming you mean f(x) = (x + 1) / (3x – 2)
Remember the domain is where the x’s are. Any x works here except 2/3, when a divide by zero occurs. So the domain is all real numbers except 2/3. The range is the possible values for the y’s. Graph f(x) and you will see the function goes everywhere at x = 2/3. So, the range is all real numbers.
