Using dies .45 Colt .454 Casull.?
I have .45 Colt dies (RCBS carbide). If I wanted to load for a .454 Casull would I be able to do so by adding a .454 sizer die to the set? I think I could back off the other dies and use them but the sizer die I’m suspecting would be too short to full length resize the cases. Am I correct in my reasoning or will I have to purchase the whole set for the .454?
The 45 Colt dies can be used to reload 454 casull. The only “problem” might be the roll crimp the 45 Colt dies give, v/s the taper crimp the 454 Casull dies give. Loading full snort loads in 454 Casull you need that taper crimp. Full length sizing may or may not be an issue, 45 Colt brass has a diameter of .480, and the .454 Casull brass has a diameter of .478.
Only your pistol will know if that .002 is a big deal or not.
