What are the perfect ranges needed to correctly site in an air rifle scope?

Given that air rifles can’t shoot far at all,I have heard around 10 meters or so will do the trick. Is this true? Also,how about the correct distances for siting in long distance air rifle shots with a scope? Thanks for your detailed,easy,yet accurate and precise answer Thanks again for you help. Tom

I shoot metallic silhouettes with and RWS 34 and 3-12x40mm AO scope by Barska. The targets range from 22 to 45 meters away. I zero for 45 meters and find I can use the mil dots to get the closer targets.
