Scope Austria

Strong international delivery companies are ready to climb every mountain to help ensure that every parcel to Austria is delivered safely and promptly
Known to many people around the world for its beautiful scenery and cultural importance, Austria has many more assets which make it especially attractive to foreign companies and people looking to experience the best Europe has to offer.
Despite having decided to remain neutral in perpetuity, Austria is, however, far from isolated in geographical terms, occupying a central position on the European mainland, bordering such major countries as Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
The country is split into two halves, the western portion lying within the Alps and boasting some of Europe’s biggest mountain peaks, and the east being much more flat or gently sloping. Business in Austria is mainly carried out on a small scale, by a large number of privately-owned companies, the major exception being the country’s banks. However, many of these have scaled back their international operations in the wake of the global financial crisis of 2008/9.
In order to rebuild its economy, Austria is prioritising development of the knowledge-based sectors of its economy, and high-tech manufacturing of products such as vehicles, chemicals, communications equipment and wood and paper products. Alongside these, it boasts well-established oil refining, steel and iron manufacturing and processing businesses. Appropriately for such a beautiful country, however, tourism is the country’s biggest income generator, responsible for a large number of visitors from its closest neighbour, Germany, as well as increasingly from America and the former countries of the Eastern Bloc.
As can be expected from a country which is so centrally located, Austria benefits from excellent transport links with its neighbours. The principal route into the country for cargo from around the world is through Vienna International Airport, the chief air terminal for the whole nation. Cities spread as far and wide as Taipei, Delhi, Shanghai, Brussels, Oslo and Moscow have direct air freight services into the airport. Growth in traffic from all sources has led to the construction of a new terminal at the airport, which will be open in 2012.
Goods are sent to Austria’s other major cities, including Innsbruck, Salzburg, Graz and Linz, by both feeder air services and a reliable, modern network of motorway-standard roads. Austria has the ideal market conditions to allow many businesses to thrive, and for others operating outside the country to prosper from exporting to. When that is within a business’s scope, it can rely on excellent parcel delivery services to get the goods to wherever they are needed.
Hunting for the best deals on Austria parcel delivery is made easier using the internet, where international couriers vie for business and offer services to suit all kinds of consignments, and delivery priorities.
