Scope Lens

Anybody mounteda vxl or vx3-l scope w/ a 50mm objective lens?

I bought a vx3-l 4.5x50mm scope with the groves so i can mount the scope hugging the barrel. I ask leupold for some base and rings. They told me low rings alsotheir guideline says so. I bought them and took it to the gunsmith. They say its to low and wont put it on for me. Anybody has this scope and wouldlike to help if leupold wrong or the gunsmith. Gun smith says the bottom of the rear scope rubbs against the topof the rifle.

I have mounted a VX 1 40mm and had no problems. If you look at the scope mounted on the rifle in the picture in the link I’m sending it looks like the eyepiece is well beyond the end of the receiver. This I’m sure depends on the rifle. Look at the link and also click on the “Additional info: Buyers Guide to see more views. It looks like if you mount it far enough back and still have sufficient eye relief the low ones should work.
