Scope Magnifier

Scope Question!!!!!!?
Is an electronic sight with a magnifier any better or worse than a scope?
Like Scott said, it depends on what you want to do with your firearm/sights set up.
An electronic is all the rage right now because of their newness. The military uses them as seen in the tv news. Makes sense to use electronic sights, ie., red-dot sights for close up shooting, say up to 150 yards as most electronic units have a relatively large “dot” used in aiming and sight placement. Any farther and the dot covers some of the background with intended target, not a good recipe for accuracy.
On the other hand, dot sights, chevrons, post, bracket sights, etc., do have their uses for shooting sports in which shooter has to acquire target quickly, shoot fast and accurately in competition in various shooting sports.
Also touted as the thing to use in personal protection firearms. IE., deterrence value when someone intent on doing bad things suddenly see a lazer turned on and moving toward it’s parts that will hurt plenty if projectile sent it’s way. And an aide to shooting accurately. Sight in firearm and electronic sight for personal defense ranges, generally close, say 5 yards to 15 yards and maybe a bit farther out to say 25 yards. Practice shooting at these ranges for hits on who or what disturbs you greatly and not what is around the “it” you plan to destroy. Mind you, you will be held accountable for shooting. That means police, detectives, psychologists, lawyers, courts and judges, people talking with your friends and family about your most personal thoughts. Plan on a personal invasion like you don’t ever want! But that is part of the responsibility and what happens in a shooting. Who know, you may end up in prison for “defending yourself.”
Serious stuff presented drearily aside. the one big drawback of electronic sights is that to work, the things are powered by electricity, generally batteries. Batteries go out, your personal defense piece is next to worthless. The sights mounted atop firearm generally blocks original sights, iron sights. Or if mounted lower, and are out of the way, gives you an”out”, choosing shot placement the old fashioned way.
That is one drawback. Electronics going out.
The other is depending on gadgets attached to serious pdfs. In addition to batteries going out is damaging the electronic units by bumping or hitting them hard enough. Or the thing may just fail to turn on/function due to some unknown reason.
Adding a magnifier to the electronic sight helps with aiming more precisely up close and a bit farther out.
Scopes on the other hand with few exceptions have no batteries to fail and generally are built more ruggedly than electronic sights. These two attributes are quickly being eclipsed though with manufactures learning from design , materials, electronics, etc. shortcomings from early electronic sights. One such example is internal dot movements greater than 1/4 inch at 100 yards.
Dot sizes have shrunk. Internal adjustments matching bullet impact to aim point are becoming more standardized to the 100 yard stuff shooters are used to.
Scopes generally have a reticule that makes for more pinpoint aiming. Have all the hard won original attributes such as ruggedness, dependability, Water proof, fog proof, shockproof, keep aim point even with rough handling of firearm. Some are fixed power. Most in use today have generous power magnification zoom ranges. 2×7, 3×9 are commonplace standards 3x magnifications. 4x power range scopes are quickly catching up. 5x power range scopes are like wow! state of the art! And 6x power range scopes are like wowee! Who woulda thought!
For all types of sight systems, there are categories of intended use given to sight systems and there are sight systems made just for shooting categories.
