Forgive me….a Sniper Rifle Question…..Sorry…..?
Take a Soviet/Russian SVD Dragunov rifle. You know, the one with the weird stock that is like a hollow wooden frame, it’s automatic, has this enormous 4 power semi infra red scope, and fires the Mosin Nagant rifle cartridge? Know which one I am talking about? This thing:

Ok, here is my question: if you simply bought a semi automatic hunting rifle, say a Browning BAR

or maybe a Benelli R-1
And then on your Browning or your Benelli (in .30-06 or .300 Winchester Magnum, your choice) you put a really good scope on it, say a Leupold 3x-9x or Leupold 4x-12x. Which gun would be better for long range shooting? The Soviet SVD, or a simple civilian semi automatic rifle?
I don’t know that there’s a lot to choose from among them. Though I’m curious about the smile on the face of the guy who gut-shot the sow (it looks more like an embarrassment I’d want to hide), I suppose I’d put my money on the Benelli if I were forced to bet.
