Shotgun Barrel

Can you saw off a shotgun barrel if the length cut to meets the minimum requirements (18 inches)?

Like is the act of cutting the barrel what would get you in trouble or is it the length?

You can legally cut a barrel down to 18″ as along as the over all length of the shotgun is no less than 26.” A lot of people will cut it to 18.5 to be safe. Also, it’s my understanding you must re-attach a front sight in order to be legal.

That should be right but I would double check before I started sawing.
