What is the best way to use a laser bore sighter?

I have just purchased a Laser Bore sighting tool. When you bore sight w/ a laser, does it matter which magnification the scope is set on. I for one, find my optimal setting, and I never touch it again..ever. Some of my rifles don’t have an adjustable scope. just a 4 or 6X40. And I sighted them in the old fashioned way. I’m new to laser bore sighting so I’m wondering if anyone has any input on the subject that may help me. If you comment is going to be smart azzed, keep it to yourself. I’m not looking for an attitude, just someone that can lend a helping hand.
Thanks for the answers. By “smart azzed I meant somebody trying to make me look stupid by asking this question. Any answer that is helpful is welcomed. I’m new to laser sighting. I’ve been used to shooting 8, 10 or more rounds just to get into the ballpark at 200 yrds.

The best way is on the lowest setting,because you want to bore sight at 27feet, and a higher setting will blurr. you also want to use a gun vise.
