Size Die
What is the standard size of gaming dice?

Hi,

I’m looking for some information about gaming dice…i.e. dice for games like DnD, Exalted, Werewolf, etc. I want to buy my fiance a special set for his birthday, but the darn things come in all different sizes.

I’d like to know what’s considered the “standard” size for dice. In other words, what size you’d have unless you were specifically looking for ones smaller or larger.

Thanks!

Well there is 3 different types of dice for gaming:

1. The standard “D20″ set, that comes with one 20 sided dice, one 12 sided dice, two 10 sided dice, one 8 sided dice, one 6 sided dice and one 4 sided dice.

Thats your standard set for DnD and any other D20 game.

2. Next there is your “D10″ set, which comes with ten 10 sided dice.

Those dice are for all Wizards of the coast games (IE World of darkness = Vampire and all of those) and Exalted.

3. Last you have the D6 sets, which come with a $h1t load of 6 sided dice.

These are used for Shadowrun and other games.

Honestly it depends on what your hubby likes to play the most. As for size, I would say it depends on his style, some prefer the mini sizers, most like that ones that are about one inch big (I would say if any these would be called ‘standard’) and some very few like the monster dice.

They also have a wide variety out there of different materials they make the dice from. You’ve got your basic, then they have metal dice (these cost ya about 20 or so for a D20 set) and for the badassly people out there they even have solid jade dice (for about 40-100, depending on the color, size and place you get them from).

If you have other questions, or need more help email me

My husband made me into a nerd when we were dating, so I can give you more help if you need it.
