Sizer Die
Is my alcoholic dad going to die soon?
my dad has been an alcoholic since he was 21 he is now 40 years old almost 41. He’s drinking has become worse ever since my mom divorced him around 2000. He’s tried to quite but the last time he tried he had a sizer. Now he keeps telling me that he’s going to die he says he feels weak and has never felt so much pain through out his body. He’s liver is failing as well…
I don’t want any of this to be true and I don’t want to tell anyone else because i don’t no if his doing this because; once again he’s drunk or maybe it is true. Any information would be great thanks
Alcoholism can cause cirrhosis which leads to death if drinking continues. He’s young yet, but it does happen even to younger people sometimes. My cousin died at 37 from cirrhosis due to alcoholism.
If your father is trying to quit on his own, it rarely is successful. I assume his drinking is pretty severe because it caused him to have a seizure when he tried to quit. He need to detox in a safe place. Have him call AA and find out where he can go to detox safely. Then he needs to go into a rehab or some kind of program such as AA to find out how to live life without being drunk. He needs coping skills so that he doesn’t turn to booze when anything goes wrong.
Unless your father wants to get well, there is little you can do to help him. Do an intervention with all his friends and family if that is possible. Find out about programs in your area that might be able to help him and give your father all the support you can should he want to try and quit again.
