Figuring Out Your Monthly Payments

One of the most complicated parts of acquiring a cheap car loan is figuring out your monthly payments ahead of time. Since many factors are involved in calculating your monthly payment, it is incredibly difficult for most buyers to anticipate this before they head into the dealership to find the new car of their dreams.

Among these factors are your credit score, your down payment, the final sale price of the car, the interest rate of the loan, and the duration of the loan. However, as the buyer, you have one distinct advantage when going into negotiate the price of a new car, if you choose to take advantage of it.

Many new car buyers make the mistake of finding the car they want and haggling with the dealer over the final sale price. While this is a good tactic, and an important thing to try to do in any situation, the only way to maximize the pay off of this tactic is if you are paying for the new car in cash up front. If, however, you plan on taking out a cheap car loan, or opting for dealer financing, it is imperative that you work out exactly what you can afford to pay for new car every month, and stick to this price. Let the dealer know before any negotiations have taken place that $X amount is the monthly payment you are able to afford. This cuts off one of the ways dealerships use to pad their profits and jack up the price on you. If you work out a deal on the final sale price of the new car, often dealerships will inflate the monthly payments to recoup some of the difference. But if you attack from both sides, you can maximize your savings and attain a monthly new car payment that is perfect for your budget.

How To Deal With The Dealership
Figure out ahead of time what the maximum monthly payment you could possible afford is. Then cut it by 10 to 15% percent. Go into the dealership with this number in mind, and be as adamant as you can that this is the highest you can pay per month for a cheap car loan. Most often, they will accept this number, but give you less haggle room on the final sale price. Though if you are insistent you are likely to be able to make some headway with this price as well.
