Takedown Assembly

Remington 742 Takedown?

I’d like to do a thorough cleaning on an old 742. So far, I’ve removed the fore-end and trigger assembly. Is it possible, practical or necessary to breakdown the rifle any further? If so how? (as far as I know, very little has changed in the current Model 750)

That’s about as far as most people should break one down. Hose down the innards with something like Birchwood Casey’s Gun Scrubber. then lightly oil.
