Tasco Propoint
What gun should I put a cheap Tasco propoint red dot on?
Someone gave me one of those cheap Tosco Pro Point reddot scopes with zero magnification.
So I have a Beeman air rifle, old Ruger 10/22, Russian SKS, old Mossberg 500 with a rifled slug barrel, a Ruger mark II .22 cal target pistol and a old Stevens 22 rifle to pick from.
So which do you think it would work best on?
Im not sure what recoil this thing can handle. That’s why I’m asking.
Maybe a paper weight?
Thanks.
Well, if the alternative is a paperweight, I wouldn’t worry about whether recoil damages it or not. I’d probably put it on the SKS myself. Why? Well, if I remember correctly, those old ProPoint red dots had the big barrel on them, so they look a little silly and are a bit unwieldy on a pistol. The 10/22 and the Ruger Mark II probably have decent sights on them (all of the ones I’ve shot had reasonable sights) and the red dot may make you faster with one, but it also is a bit bulky on them. Same with the Stevens. Mossberg 500 with the rifled barrel might actually be accurate enough that you want to put a 4 power on it. Last, and my second choice is the Beeman air rifle – the range you are going to shoot this at isn’t that far, and again most are accurate enough that you might want more precision than the ProPoint gives, but it would definitely be my second choice.
