Trijicon TriPower Hunting And Combat Sight
The TrijiconTriPower was designed to overcome a specific problem that plagues sights using a combination of tritium and fiber-optic illumination. These sights can provide insufficient illumination when shooting into brightly lit environments from inside poorly lit cover. For most of us this is seldom a problem, but it is easy to imagine hunting, law enforcement or military scenarios when it could ruin your whole day. To overcome this, Trijicon designed the TriPower, the first sight to use three independent forms of illumination. Daylight illumination is provided by the fiber-optic coil on top of the sight. This adapts automatically to variations in ambient lighting. However, care must be taken to keep the cover on the fiber-optic unit at night because, otherwise, it can glow from the other illumination sources.
The next form of illumination is a tritium lamp which comes into use at night. Some users have reported that the tritium illumination is very dim, but it has to be compatible with night vision which limits its brightness. The third, new form of illumination is provided by two CR1/3N batteries, four of which are supplied with the unit. Battery illumination should be used in any situation where the shooter may have to move into a poorly lit situation as well as at night without NV. A ranging capability is provided by the red chevron aiming pattern which is the size of the standard US Army silhouette target at 100 meters. The user can choose from 5 night and 12 daylight settings. The sight outwardly resembles the Aimpoint CompM3 with its immensely strong aluminum tube format.
A Tenebraex KillFlash anti reflection device can be mounted on the objective and both the occular and objective lenses are threaded for accessories. As the tube is 30 mm, there is a great range of mounting options available. The GG&G TriPower Mount is designed specifically to fit the Tripower and mounts it well forward to ensure compatability with magnifiers such as the Eotech G23.FTS and Aimpont 3XMag. This is a very strong, yet light mount which has been well thought out. The lever is cleverly designed to allow for use of winter gloves, yet not snag on clothing or equipment. The lever adjusts, so even worn Picatinny or Weaver rails are not a problem.
