What can I do to steady my aim with a bow?

Does anyone have any tips as to how to steady my aim with a bow, because I go to full draw, and I release, and it goes far from where I was aiming a second ago. Also, does anyone know how to sight in a Tru-Glo sight, because I have one but it’s useless because it’s like 3-5 inches above the arrow, so I aim with the sight and the arrow burys in the ground.

there are several things that can cause an arrow to go off from where you plan it to go (and are aiming for) the following list are a few of the things that can happen:

dropping the bow to “peek and see where the arrow hits(hold the bow up until the arrow hits the target then look to see where it hit)

Grabbing the bow when the arrow is released (the bow should be in the web of you hand with all the pressure at full draw on the heel of your hand (the meaty part below the thumb) with your fingers gently resting on the riser (not choking it)

Standing to long at full draw and “chasing the pin” (If you have good form and have the mechanics right all you need to do is look where you want the arrow to go and it will get there (close).

there are several more variables that could be causing your problem but without watching or a more detailed description all I can do is make a few suggestions.

As for adjusting your sight….start by standing about 10 yards from the target and shoot a group of arrows. (the closer the group the better to adjust the sight) and chase the group with the sight (if you are shooting low and left move the sight left and down I know it doesn’t sound right but it is I had problems with that for the longest time myself.) Once you have it sighted in at 10 yards (you are hitting where you are aiming with the sight) move back to 15-20 yards and start again. (make sure that you mark the sight(or pin) for each yardage so that you remember what is where.
