Universal Shotgun

I would like to hunt, what would be the most universal Rifle/Scope Combo to use for both small and large game?

I have only shot military weapons and many of them. I would like a decent rifle that I can use for both small and large game animals. I already have a shotgun for hunting and one for personal defense. Please advise. Also for the above question can you tell me what a fair price range would be?

i would say u should get 2 guns. a .22 caliber for squirrel. u can find a good one with a scope between $100-$250. a good gun for large game hunting such as elk or moose would be either a .270 winchester or a 30-06. u cant use a .270 or 30-06 on a rabbit because that will ruin everything- meat, mount (optional), and it can even leave no meat. if u want to get a really high caliber rifle for hunting such as lion or even grizzlies i would go with the 45-70
