what is the difference between a picatinny and weaver rail? would an insight m6x go on either one?

The Picatinny and weaver are for all intensive purposes indentical. Picatinny merely has slots at a uniform distance of 1/4 ”
I assume you are talking about the long gun version, yes it should mount on either, and if not you have a complaint for the service department.
