Yukon Sea

Yukon Sea
Going to Ivvavik Natl Park in the Yukon. Should I be very worried about flies and mosquitoes?

I’ll be on a river for two weeks in mid August, rafting all the way to the northern coast and into the Beaufort Sea. I know someone who has done this same trip and he did not encounter any bugs at all, but everything I read about the caribou says that they are plagued by biting flies, and 100,000 caribou live in Ivvavik.

Any Canadians know about this?

I live in the Yukon, in the Klondike, and the bugs are actually better here than when I lived outside of Ottawa.

OTOH, OMG – YES! Especially as you go further north, which you will be. Bring the best stuff you can find, and a mosquito jacket/hat would be a good idea.
